Patient presented with congenitally missing lateral incisors. She wore braces for a few months first to open the spaces up enough to make the new teeth esthetically proportionate. It was well worth the few extra months of waiting, for now she has a beautiful smile that will last her a lifetime.
Surgical day: Bone graft and membrane place around the implants. Because of the amount of the defect in the bony ridge, she was not able to have immediate temporary crowns the day the implants were placed. She wore a removeable partial (also known as a “flipper”), as she had been wearing, while the bone graft healed and the implant integrated with the bone.
You can see here how well the bone graft filled in and healed beautifully. (The implants are underneath the gums).
From this view, you can see how the added bone material has thickened the ridge. These implants are both now stable and ready for teeth! Before proceeding with the final restorations, we opted to make temporary crowns and have her wear them for several weeks to reshape the gum tissue to be more tooth shaped. This way, when we make the Final Impression for the permanent crowns, the gum line will look better.
The final implant crowns! Just beautiful! Well worth the extra wait and steps taken to achieve the best results we could. She was very happy.
